Sigiriya Sri Lanka Ancient Rock Fortress in the World

Sigiriya Sri Lanka - Ancient Rock Fortress in the World

Sigiriya Lion Rock: Climb the World-Famous Landmark

Sigiriya, another proud tower of the Sinhalese land, which is related to ancient history, is a great art center that is so great that it surprises the world in Sinhala art, architecture and architecture. According to our genealogy, the story of Sigiri is built around the founder of Sigiriya, the first king Kasyapa, who met a tragic end. This great art gallery is located about 9 miles north of Dambulla on the Colombo- Trincomalee road. Sigiriya is located as a remnant mountain range of the Inamaluwa Korale, near the foothills of the Malaya Rata hills in the southern border of the northern plains of the Matale district. This rock rises about 600 feet above the plain. It is 3 km in length, 1 km in width, and the size of the top of Sigiriya Tea is 3 acres. This magnificent architectural complex composed of stone and gedal was built in the late 5th century AD. It was reflected that a strong giant resides in the majesty of this labyrinth, which consists of great walls, water inlets, guard chambers, natural stone arches, flower gardens, and the great wall called the mirror wall because of the delicately smoothed and smoothed flower

Major stages

Kasyapa Era (3rd BC-5th BC)

Kasyapa Era (475-497 BC)

Later Kasyapa Era (6-13 AD)

Unknown Age (13-17 AD)

Maha Kandy Era (17-19 AD)

Modern Era (19th century AD-Present)

The name Sinhagiri or Sigiriya was attached to it because it is built in the style of a Sinharaja and is extremely majestic at the foot of the great sin that protrudes to the north kissing the horizon with a dark color. In 1898, Mr. HCP Bell stated that even the earliest archeologists of the modern era were as fascinated as the ancients who visited Sinharaja, even though they felt a sense of dread extending miles away. It is clear from this song that even if only the pair of lion's arms are still present, it is enough to feel a sense of grandeur and power in someone.

Archaeological ruins and special features

Sigiriya is a rock formed by a long-eroded volcano (of cooled igneous rock). Rising from the plains beside the canal, it can be seen for miles in any direction. It is situated on a steep edifice that rises suddenly from the ground around the rock. The rock is 370 m. It is high and steep on all sides. The base is protruding in many places. There is a slope running down from the oval long guard shape.

Sigiriya has an ancient palace built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century AD. On the flat surface of the rock are the ruins of a palace. On the flat ground in the middle there is a lion gate and mirrors with inscriptions. The Lower Palace leans against the lower slope of the rock, creating moat walls and gardens extending hundreds of meters from the base of the rock. This land has a palace and a fort. From the existing enough ruins, it creates precious feelings about the excellent ability and creativity of those who come to see it.
Sigiri land plan The Sigiri design can be seen as a prime example of urban planning in the first millennium. The layout is considered to be very beautiful and meticulously designed. It seems that in preparing the plans, the concept of compatibility and incompatibility has been carefully observed and combined with the geometrical plans and the location of the surrounding natural objects. The garden on the western side of the rock is fit for royalty. A water retention structure has been created in the park. An underground water pressure system was used in their preparation and some of these are still in use today. South of the rock is a man-made reservoir. These types of reservoirs were used a lot in the dry region of Sri Lanka before. There are five gates at the entry points to Sigiri land. It is believed that the western gate, which is beautifully finished, was reserved for royalty.

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI ( january 12  13.30pm )

IND vs SL, 1st ODI Highlights:

Virat Kohli and Dasun Shanaka stole the limelight as India beat Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. Virat Kohli scored 113 off 87 balls - his 73rd international century - thanks to Dasun Shanaka's unbeaten 108 off 88 balls as India finished their 50-over quota at 306 for 8 against the hosts for 7 wickets. Collected 373. . Rohit Sharma (83) and Shubman Gill (70) set a strong platform for India with a 143-run opening stand after Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka, who won the toss, invited the hosts to bat first. Kasun Rajitha took 3 wickets but he scored 88 runs in his 10 overs. In Sri Lanka's run chase, Dasun Shanaka, Pathum Nishanka (72) and Dhananjaya de Silva (47) showed good resilience but failed to avoid defeat. Umran Malik was the pick of the bowlers for 3 runs The only point at which Sri Lanka looked like they might be able to put India's target of 374 under any pressure was Dhananjaya de Silva and Pathum Nishanka's 72-run partnership. 65 balls for the fourth wicket. Sri Lanka looked toothless until Dasun Shanaka started going big in the last 10 overs. All too late, Shanaka managed to score a century, setting an example of what would happen if his fellow batsmen were stranded. Earlier, due to Virat Kohli's 45th ODI century, India managed to score 373/7. India leads the three-match series 1-0.

IND vs SL 1st ODI: A highlight

It all happened in the middle of the last over when Shami Mankads Shanaka scored 98, but Rohit withdrew the appeal. Fortunately, Shanaka reached his 100 just a few balls later.

Rohit Sharma talks about being dismissed at the non-striker's end "I didn't know Shami did that (runs) and he was batting on 98. The way he batted was great, we couldn't get him out like that. It's not what we thought, congratulations to him, he played really well. well." Reflecting on the game, he said, "Really impressed. We started well with the bat, it was a great effort from every batsman. Every batsman had a platform, I thought we could have bowled better. We didn't want to. The conditions were not easy. Gotta be critical. It wasn't easy bowling under the lights, especially when it was dewy. If you want to win, everyone has to come to the party, but we bowled well up front. There are certain areas to work on. All eleven members must make a concerted effort."

Second ODI between India and Sri Lanka

When: Thursday, January 12 at 1.30pm local time

Where: Eden Gardens, Kolkata

What to expect:
More runs and runs at a batsman-friendly venue. A sunny day with temperatures in the early 20s and a cloudy afternoon are on the cards.

                                      Team News: India:

There was much debate about benching Ishan Kishan based on his recent performances, but Shubman Gill added to the dilemma as he scored a 60-ball 70 in the series opener. With the ball, Umran Malik repaid the faith placed in him by taking wickets in the middle overs. India should retain the same XI that led the tournament.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Umran Malik, Yuzvendra Chahal

Sri Lanka: Dilshan Madhushanka dismissed Rohit, but otherwise got off to a middle-order start at 1 for 43. In his place, Lahiru Kumar can be an experienced option. Left-arm spinner Dunit Vellalage was also ineffective, making way for Mahesh Thiekshana.

Probable XI: Pathum Nishanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka, Vanindu Hasaranga, Dunit Vellalage/Mahish Thiekshana, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madhushanka

did you know: - Rohit Sharma last played against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, his highest ever ODI score - 264 - Since January 2021, India have won 8 out of 10 ODIs played at home. Since then, Sri Lanka have played 27 ODIs - both away and away - losing 15 of them.

                          What they said:

"My preparation and intention has always remained the same. I thought I was hitting the ball well. It was close to the mold I play and I realized we needed 25-30 extra runs. I tried to understand the conditions in the second half. We had a comfortable total on the board. Tried to get." - Virat Kohli after his 45th ODI century

"I think the start their openers gave, we didn't use the new ball well, their bowlers got it to swing" - Dasun Shanaka on his team's failure in the first ODI.

                                           Reserves:

India squad: Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(w), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Mohammad Shami, Umran Malik, Mohammad Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav , Kuldeep Yadav , Ishan Kishan, Arshdeep Singh
