Sigiriya, another proud tower of the Sinhalese land, which is related to ancient history, is a great art center that is so great that it surprises the world in Sinhala art, architecture and architecture. According to our genealogy, the story of Sigiri is built around the founder of Sigiriya, the first king Kasyapa, who met a tragic end. This great art gallery is located about 9 miles north of Dambulla on the Colombo- Trincomalee road. Sigiriya is located as a remnant mountain range of the Inamaluwa Korale, near the foothills of the Malaya Rata hills in the southern border of the northern plains of the Matale district. This rock rises about 600 feet above the plain. It is 3 km in length, 1 km in width, and the size of the top of Sigiriya Tea is 3 acres. This magnificent architectural complex composed of stone and gedal was built in the late 5th century AD. It was reflected that a strong giant resides in the majesty of this labyrinth, which consists of great walls, water inlets, guard chambers, natural stone arches, flower gardens, and the great wall called the mirror wall because of the delicately smoothed and smoothed flower

The name Sinhagiri or Sigiriya was attached to it because it is built in the style of a Sinharaja and is extremely majestic at the foot of the great sin that protrudes to the north kissing the horizon with a dark color. In 1898, Mr. HCP Bell stated that even the earliest archeologists of the modern era were as fascinated as the ancients who visited Sinharaja, even though they felt a sense of dread extending miles away. It is clear from this song that even if only the pair of lion's arms are still present, it is enough to feel a sense of grandeur and power in someone.

Archaeological ruins and special features

Sigiriya is a rock formed by a long-eroded volcano (of cooled igneous rock). Rising from the plains beside the canal, it can be seen for miles in any direction. It is situated on a steep edifice that rises suddenly from the ground around the rock. The rock is 370 m. It is high and steep on all sides. The base is protruding in many places. There is a slope running down from the oval long guard shape.

Sigiriya has an ancient palace built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century AD. On the flat surface of the rock are the ruins of a palace. On the flat ground in the middle there is a lion gate and mirrors with inscriptions. The Lower Palace leans against the lower slope of the rock, creating moat walls and gardens extending hundreds of meters from the base of the rock. This land has a palace and a fort. From the existing enough ruins, it creates precious feelings about the excellent ability and creativity of those who come to see it.
Sigiri land plan The Sigiri design can be seen as a prime example of urban planning in the first millennium. The layout is considered to be very beautiful and meticulously designed. It seems that in preparing the plans, the concept of compatibility and incompatibility has been carefully observed and combined with the geometrical plans and the location of the surrounding natural objects. The garden on the western side of the rock is fit for royalty. A water retention structure has been created in the park. An underground water pressure system was used in their preparation and some of these are still in use today. South of the rock is a man-made reservoir. These types of reservoirs were used a lot in the dry region of Sri Lanka before. There are five gates at the entry points to Sigiri land. It is believed that the western gate, which is beautifully finished, was reserved for royalty.
